Songography R&D

Making maps to show you home

Welcome to a brave new world of mapping. Composer Jennifer Bell is working with the locals of Mounts Bay to chart the people who make the place, and the place that makes the people.

This research has led to the development of two pilot pieces; an audio walk and an interactive 3D map. Both feature true stories interwoven with unaccompanied song.

Pilot Audio Walk

‘My Favourite Rockpool and Other Stories’ is an ode to Mounts Bay. It features true stories from local people, and singing from Mounts Bay Singers.

This 30 minute pilgrimage is designed to be listened to on headphones on Marazion Beach.

We are welcoming feedback from explorers, so if you would like to try the walk, please get in touch here. Alternatively, you can listen at home here

Our map was made in collaboration with children from Marazion School and PLAN8.

Please wait a few moments for the map to load.

When the logo disappears, hit full screen, and click ‘touch to explore’.

After a short animated intro, you can interact and explore the map in 3D.
